When I met with Troy personally, I detected a commitment to change the negative image the used car industry sometimes carries. “I know this industry very well and I will not let a customer leave unsatisfied with our services,” Troy told me. Rocky Mountain Motor Cars opened its doors in 2005. “All of our customers should expect that we will go out of our way to make things easier for our customers and make sure they are well taken care of before they drive off our lot.”
But what happens after the car is off the lot? That’s where you’ll find Troy bragging about his warranty: “Nothing goes into my inventory that is going to cause problems for my customers,” Troy told me. “We put every vehicle through a 160 point check, and we invest up to 500 dollars repairing problems. If it’s more than 500 dollars, the car is going to cause problems for a customer, and we send it back to the auto auction.
The result is what I believe to be a rather safe warranty for used car buyers: “We give a 2 year, 24-thousand mile warranty that covers anything that goes wrong from the front bumper to the rear bumper,” says Troy. “There is a $200 dollar deductible for each repair and I truly honor that warranty. But really, we inspect and repair the cars before we sell them so customers don’t have to bring them back for warranty work.”
If you’re in need of financing, Troy tells me that Rocky Mountain Motor Cars can help with that too. “We have a full reporting loan finance company that offers reasonable financing for our customers. We will do everything in our power to get you into the car you want.”

Troy tells me that since the inception of Rocky Mountain Motor Cars, he has been trying to fight off all of the negative stereotypes that come with used car lots. “We aren’t your typical used car dealership and my staff isn’t your typical sales-man. We’re reliable, honest, and friendly. My staff and I realize that our customers are seeking help and we aren’t just here to sell cars, we look at ourselves as the helping hand in the car buying process.
Troy says another reason he believes his business goes above and beyond for his customers is his staff. "Most of my staff has been with me from the very beginning. I hire people that want to do right by the customer, and as an owner that means a lot.”
